ABSTRACT
It is shown that the Grozny researchers the first in domestic oil processing have begun to deal with a problem of studying of oil emulsions. The Grozny researchers brought V.A. Selsky, I.O. Luchinsky, S.A. Vyshetravsky, I.N. Akkerman, the big contribution to formation and development of domestic emulsion business etc. They have determined the content of water and impurity in oil, factors of stability and instability of oil emulsions are established, the composition of boring waters of the Grozny fields is investigated, the microscopic research of oil emulsions is conducted. Thanks to these researches, Grozny in the 1920-1930th years was created as the center for studying of oil emulsions in the USSR.

ABSTRACT
The article establishes the main stages of the development and formation of the primary distillation of Grozny oil, starting from the world-famous distillation cube of the Dubinin brothers and up to the modern combined ELOU-AVT-6 unit. It is shown that all the achievements in the processing of Grozny oil were the result of the outstanding discoveries and inventions of many domestic scientists, engineers and workers of our country. Grozny engineers and scientists make a significant contribution to these achievements. Of particular value are the studies of Grozny in the pre-revolutionary period, which were the first to study Grozny’s oil and proposed advanced methods for their processing.
