ABSTRACT
The “Naftalan” medicative crude is noticeably distinguishable in its properties from any other world crude, produced for purposes of industry. This fact, probably, accounts for both, specific biological characteristics of the and its therapeutical effect. The specific properties of the “Naftalan” crude are most likely conditioned by the structural composition of multiple hydrocarbons incorporated in crude, by combinations of thereof in separate fractions, as wellas by the nature of nitrogen- and sulphur-containing compounds, and of naphthenic acids. This article describes the study history of the Naftalanoil biological properties, and the first attempts to determine the effect of Naftalan oil and its fractions on a living organism.
